Media Communications Learning Center -- Imagining the Future
Video Conference Session with Michigan
Febrauary 1, 2002

Raymond, Shinji, and Lorraine apply their newly acquired tech expertise with the Via Video to hook up with Michigan!
Our participants had practiced with the Via Video system on Wednesday and now faced the "test." Could they set up the system and meet with the Michigan team?

Raymond, Shinji, and Lorraine gathered in Mrs. Sueoka's office to take the challenge! They multi-tasked, chatting with the Michigan crew in the TQ Imagine chat room...and even resorted to writing messages and holding them up to the camera at times ;)

An hour and a half later, we'd give ourselves...and Michigan a B+ at the least! We were not able to get audio from the Michigan site but got great video. And they were able to see and hear us!

So we'd say, for MOHS, the other team members who'd taught each other the tech passed...with flying colors!

Here's what it looked like on our end of the connection! If not loud, at least clear!
Tech specs: We are connecting on a Sony Vaio, Pentium 4, 256 MB Ram, MS Windows ME.

Troubleshooting continues...but the guys and girl (Lorraine likes going by the login name, "Alternachick") were undaunted and looking forward to their next try at videoconferencing.

They did get to share one of their ideas with Michigan and are hoping to hear from other students about their project plans.

MOHS will be meeting again on Wednesday, February 6, to form teams and come up with project topics. We will try to post on the Imagine the Future project forum when we've made some choices!
