Subject: Reflection on 3/13 Web Workshop
I have a feeling that mrs.s is going to ask us to do a reflection on the
web design workshop so I'll write it now while it's still fresh in my
mind....
Tonight's web "Graphic and User Interface Design" Workshop was held in the
Art Building auditorium at UH. The speaker was Lisa Lopuck, a graphics/web
designer who works for SONY, National Geographics, etc. During the
workshop, Ms.Lopuck explained the basic concepts and elements of a good
website. It was a really fun workshop, even though it was basically a
lecture. Ms.Lopuck was very funny and I learned a lot of valuable
information about web designing, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, and Flash. For
example, I learned that rather than scattering everything around, the most
important links and elements should be consolidated in one area and the
not so important stuff in another part of the page. Ms.Lopuck also showed
us the essential aspects of the Home Page and the Sub Pages. She also
talked about being consistent when designing a web page. Therefore, I
think that it's safe to conclude that UNITY is very important in the site.
One of my favorite parts of the presentation was the section about "Visual
Design Strategies". This section provided strategies on how to make a web
page visually appealing to the viewer. The presentation as a whole was
easy to follow because there were visual examples for the different
elements covered.

Subject: web design workshop 3/13 reflection
Hi everybody,
Well Melanie sure was right when she said that Mrs. S would like us to
reflect on the web design workshop. So here I go :)
It was a really nice workshop; wish I had the money to pay for Lisa Lopuck
classes :) She was a really good presenter, she was funny and it was
totally obvious that she knows A LOT. She first did like a short
introduction, where she talked about some general stuff when building a
web site, and then she talked shortly about Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and
Flash. All the time she was lecturing, she had visual aids, actual
examples of what she was talking about, which made it much easier to
follow. I must admit, that as I have been to the workshop Mrs. S organized
about Flash, that was the part where I knew what she was talking about, it
was like she was finally speaking in English, finally everything she said
made sense.:)
But anyways, the other pats didn't seem that hard. As far as I could
understand, most of these appliances, Dreamweaver, Flash and Fireworks,
you just need somebody to show you the basics, and then you figure out
everything else just by playing around with it. Well, that is how you
figure out most of the things on computer, at least that's what I did, and
it worked out pretty good:)
