Subject: Video Conference with Michigan

On Friday, Shinji, Lorainne and I did our best to connect with BHS in
Michigan for a video conference. We got connected, but the only problem
was our audio. They could see and hear us, but we could only see them.
It was interesting when we first saw them on our screen. Because we
couldn't hear them, we didn't know how good their connection was.
Eventually we wrote a message on a piece of paper and held it up to the
view cam so they could see "Can you see or hear us?" to which they
responded by nodding yes. Then they wrote back "We heard you" and got us
jumping because we didn't know they were listening in on us. Good thing
we weren't making any comments about them.
Mr. Hale came to help us out, but we still couldn't get the connection
going. During the whole process I reflected on how it related to what we
were doing, since ITF is about communication. We had all our technology
in front of us, but, because it didn't work we were forced to improvise
and resorted to using paper and pen. We had a communication problem and
worked as a team to solve it the best we can. Though it wasn't what we
planned, the impromptu conference was still fun.

Friday's video conference was really fun. If you all read Raymond's and
Lorraine's response, then you know how it went--glitches, sound problems,
communicating with pieces of paper when thousands of dollars of technology
were right at our fingertips. It was really interesting to be able to see
what the other school(sorry, forgot their name), wrote. And it felt weird
to be able to know that they could hear us and we couldn't. We really had
to watch our words. We did talk to them through chat however, and when we
asked them about their project ideas they said they were still
brainstorming, so they are at about the same level as us. Then they got a
connection with another school so they turned their attention to them and
kind of forgot about us I guess. Well that's okay, because we had a good
time chatting with ourselves;) See you at the meeting.

ITF dudes and dudettes & instructors of the program

Yes, we did try it out! It was pretty frustrating not being able to hear
them, but seeing them was cool! It's very different doing a those things
with just three people. Hopefully the audio will work next time (if we do
do it in Mrs. Sueoka's class again) Oh yeah, Michigan is not ready to share
their ideas yet. They just said they were discussing "some stuff" What do
you guys think? okay then, I'm gonna go. very tired.

p.s. when are we going to choose our final teams?
p.s.s. I'm with Maureen!
