Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Trip Prep

At 11:45 pm Monday night, the 10 students of the MoHS broadcast journalism program headed to LA for the 4th annual convention of the Student Television Network. Along with our two-year STN vets, we had newbies and even a couple who had not been out of the state or on solo trips before!

Despite the late hours, our broadcasters were all smiles as we headed to Los Angeles. And, yes parents, they did manage to get a few hours of sleep before landing at LAX at 7 am! And some even did homework!!!

Upon landing, the crew gathered their suitcases and all the equipment needed for tomorrow's marathon video competition, "The Sweet 16." The crew packed cameras, tripods, mics, cables, headphones, batteries, tons of videotape...you get the picture!

And, after an hour's ride by Super Shuttle, we arrived at destination Disney, still smiling, as you can see! The day was spent settling in, starting our podcast footage gathering, checking out the surrounding area for possible video shoots, and catnapping!

We ended the day with our usual team debrief and reflection, in this case, planning for the upcoming competitions--both the grueling "Sweet 16" marathon and the individual competitions to follow on Thursday. The team brainstormed possible story ideas and did final tape and equipment checks. And, of course, planned their all-important wake up calls for tomorrow!
