Sophomore Presentation Portfolio

This portfolio is a collection of work that I've done as a sophomore. The work show how I have reached the six General Learner Outcomes through the Mene MAC program. The GLO's are standards that Hawaii has set up to help students achieve a more balanced, meaningful education. For example, students have to be able to collaborate well and must be able to use different technologies. Students can't just use the computers to write a report-that wouldn't be using computers effectively. There is so much more that can be done with the help of computers. In this program, we have taken it beyond word processing.

Through the combination of english and media, I have been able to participate in other activities as well. Other activities such as doing individual reflections helped me become more independent. Producing shows with my group has taught me the true meaning of collaborating. I understand the importance of reaching the GLO's along with my own standards.

After high school, I would like to go to college. I still haven't decided what college or what I would like to major in. Media Communications is one area that I am looking into. If I do decide to go on this route, I think that I would go into the entertainment side rather than journalism. I enjoy creating scripts and producing these videos. The University of Southern California is a great school to study media. The wide range of classes that they offer will definitely help me gain a better understanding and perspective of this field.

If not for media and communications, there's always architecture. Although I've always had this option in my mind, its only re-surfaced recently. University of California-Berkley and University of Hawaii-Manoa offer great programs. I think that the knowledge I gained through the MeneMAC program will help me even in this area. I feel comfortable using different equipment and working with all types of people (also two GLO's that I have met.)

Again, the military is another route. I have to look more into this, but it is another option I've always had. I'm not sure if I could handle it but I would like to go to either the Naval Academy or the Air Force Academy.

Any way that I chose, the skills that I've learned in MeneMAC will help me. Everything from knowing how to make web pages to getting along with people will lead me into becoming a better student and a better employee.
