For freshman year, I'm taking Hawaiian History and (big shock) this subject is about the histoy of Hawaii. So far we've covered the creation myth of Papa and Wakea. We've discussed Kamehameha the Great and how he united the islands and made laws that benefited the people. The Law of the Splintered Paddle, for example, allowed commoners to sleep on the roadside without being harmed. For our first quarter project, we are making a booklet explaining how the islands were before the westerners came and after they arrived. This shows that we understand the effects the impact the foreigners had on Hawaii and how they've changed Hawaii into what it is today.
